Inside Swinburne FC: Get to Know Nathan Gorga
Thomas Burchsmith

In this brand-new segment on swinburnefc.com, we’ll be sitting down with our players to get to know them a little better—diving into their footballing journeys and personal interests.
Kicking things off, we couldn’t think of a better place to start than with none other than Swinburne FC cult hero Nathan Gorga.
- What’s your favourite sports team?
Carlton Football Club closely followed by the Los Angeles Lakers - If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Lefkada, Greece 🇬🇷 - What’s your favourite way to unwind?
A sweaty sesh of Rocket League. What A Save! - Who’s the funniest person at Swinburne FC?
Adzy is quite the character and you never know what’s going to come out of his mouth. He also always brings the good vibes especially at training - If you could invite three people (dead or alive) to a dinner party, who would they be?
Kobe Bryant, Patrick Cripps and Mathew Belperio - What’s your favourite footballing memory?
Andy Cooper scoring from the halfway line off kick off circa 2017 during a winless season for the Thirds. Also when I scored against Riversdale last season, that would be a close second! - When did you first join Swinburne FC?
2015, I rocked up near the end of pre-season just as the our Sunday League side started to form in the Metro Leagues - Who is the all time best-ever Swinburne FC player in your opinion?
Will Fitzgerald was quite the player especially when I first joined the club - What’s your go-to song in the changerooms before a match?
Sandstorm by Darude. We usually save Freed From Desire till after the match! - VAR in Sunday League: yes or no?
Solid no, a lot of the magic of Sunday League goes unseen by the referee - Describe Swinburne FC in three words.
Group Chat Antics - Playing on Howard Dawson’s “grass” or a car park?
Howard Dawson Reserve and Swinburne Football club go hand in hand. It’s one of the special privileges of playing at the club. Plus you can learn to launch through balls off the mound in the middle of the pitch which is an acquired skill you can’t pull off in a car park. - Win 5-4 or win 1-0 with a dodgy penalty?
5-4 win definitely, we had that result in round 1 last season against Aspendale and it was an exhilarating finish. There were even a couple of dodgy penalties in that game too!
