Swinburne FC can announce the departure of Thijs van Amerongen, who has secured a move nine tiers higher to National Premier Leagues (NPL) outfit, Dandenong Thunder.

Thijs, a versatile footballer with a promising future, made a single league appearance in the Metropolitan 2 South-East for the Burners and played a memorable role in the inaugural Legends Cup.

Thijs has little to say in response to the announcement but did say this,

Whaaaaa 🙌🙌🙌🙌

We’re not sure what it means but it sounds positive.

Mixed reactions came in from the Burners’ community with 2023 Player of the Season Mackenzie Hyder saying

I got booted off penalties for this guy?

Dandenong Thunder SC, based in Melbourne’s south-east, is an Albanian Australian-backed club competing in the state’s top level.
