The Legends lift the Cup for the club’s largest event in near 50 year history.
The Legends side ran out 2-1 winners defeating the current squad in a fantastic game in front of over a hundred spectators on the 6th of July.
Looking back on the day it started like no other with an incredible balloon arch and the prestigious Legends Cup trophy sitting in full view.
The vibes were high and the anticipation from both sides was strong as 50 eager players squeezed into the cramped HDR change-rooms.
The players walked out with ‘Seven Nation Army’ blasting on the speaker mixed in with the cheers of the crowd.
The current side took the lead early with an unbelievable strike from Michael Mandaradoni from well outside the box only to be topped off by shushing celebration in front of the Legends FC bench.
It wouldn’t be too long until the Legends side equalised with a penalty slotted away by Sweden’s finest Christian Safko.
It wasn’t long before current senior men’s head coach Joel Kleber slotted one away to give the Legends the a 2-1 lead.
As half-time approached the next generation of Swinburne FC players were eager to take the field in our kid’s half-time entertainment.
The goals from the first half were enough to secure the victory for the Legends ensuring a much anticipated trophy lift of the inaugural Cup akin to a FIFA World Cup win.
A massive thank you to Jace Cleaning for sponsoring the event and we can’t wait to do it all again next year for LC25.
